Four content pillars you can produce every week
The pillar system exists so that filming is a checklist, not a brainstorm. Batch-shoot in China; publish on the market's schedule. Aim for 4-6 posts per week, 15-34 seconds each, with the hook inside the first two seconds.
Break the outdated picture of China
- What to film
- High-speed rail seats and speed display, a night market at 11pm with families out, mobile payment in a tiny town shop, robot food delivery, unmanned convenience stores, clean metro stations.
- Why it works
- This is the single highest-performing China-travel content category: viewers react to something that contradicts what they expected, and comments turn into destination questions.
One place, six to eight videos, run as a series
- What to film
- Pick one city or region per month and cover it in sequence: arrival and first impression, the one landmark worth it, a food street, a day trip outside the city, cost breakdown, how to get there, what to skip.
- Why it works
- Series keep viewers on your account, and the search volume for individual destinations is far higher than for "China tours". Zhangjiajie, Chongqing, Harbin, Yunnan, Xinjiang and Gansu all carry their own demand.
Answer the questions that block a booking
- What to film
- Visa-free and 240-hour transit rules in plain English, what a 7-day trip actually costs, best months for which region, how to pay (card vs mobile), ordering food without Chinese, airport-to-hotel transfers, how to book trains.
- Why it works
- These videos get saved and shared, they rank in TikTok search, and they attract people who are already planning — the highest-intent audience on the platform.
Real guests, real guides, real moments
- What to film
- Guest reactions at the moment something lands (first view of a landscape, first bite of a dish), a guide's 30-second explanation of a place they love, group trip moments, and the small human exchanges that make the trip memorable.
- Why it works
- Social proof, and the one category your competitors cannot copy: your own operation. This pillar also feeds the testimonial pinned to your profile.
Production note for China-based teams: one shooting day per week is enough for 8-12 clips if you shoot with a list. Keep a two-week buffer so a cancelled shoot never becomes a silent week. Vertical 9:16, natural light, handheld, real audio — the "too polished" look is a conversion penalty on this platform.
